Welcome to the Moomie Forum!
The forum is divided into different categories so everyone has their own little place on the forum. Take your time and browse through the different categories with their own threads and see if you fit in somewhere or start your own thread in one of the categories.
To start a new thread: When you enter a category you will see a button ‘New thread’. Give your thread a fitting name, choose a picture for it and start typing your first message and press ‘Submit’
Reply to an existing thread: When you are inside one of the threads or discussions and you would like to reply there are a couple of ways to do this. You can reply to the whole thread by clicking on ‘Reply Topic’ at the top or bottom of every thread or ‘Reply’ at the bottom of every individual post, which takes you to a page where you can draft your reply, you can use the ‘Quick Reply’ button, which still keeps you inside the thread, or you can reply to a specific post by clicking ‘Quote’, which will paste the post you are referring to along with your reply. Remember to press ‘Submit’ when you are done.
Formatting your text: Each message you type can be formatted, use bold or coloured text by using the formatting tools above the message box (much like a word processor). When you press any of these buttons a HTML code will appear inside your message box. Write between the spaces of the opening ’[ ]’ and closing ‘[ / ]’ code brackets. If you aren’t sure whether you did it right, preview your text, this will show you how your post will look before you post it.
Hiding text: If you need to say something that you only want to be seen by registered users do the following. In your reply press the button (in the formatting bar) that looks like two people or a mother and child. By pressing the button the ‘Hide’ code will appear in your message box. Post your reply that you want hidden between the opening and closing brackets.
Posting Pictures: There are two ways to do this, you can either register at www.photobucket.com (or any other image hosting website) where you can upload your photos and they store the photos for you online and just past the full IMG code. With this you can post more than one photo in your reply at the same time by just pasting the codes one after the other. Or in your reply box you can select an image directly from your computer by clicking the ‘Browse’ button next to ‘Select Image File to Attach’ and browsing to the file on your computer, selecting it and click ‘Open’. If you want to attach the picture at a certain point in your reply press the IMG button and it will insert a holding code where your image will appear so you can continue writing after your image.
*Please Note * When using the second option to paste an image the image you use has to be maximum 1000 x 1000 pixels or less than 1MB or else the image won’t load in your reply!
Changing your Picture: (which appears on every post you make) Select the ‘My Profile’ button, ‘Edit’, ‘Update your Image’, ‘Browse’ to find the picture you want from your computer, press ‘Open’ and ‘Upload’ or choose one of the pictures from the picture gallery.
Changing your Info: (including personal details and email) Select ‘My Profile’, ‘Edit’, ‘Update your profile’ the second tab ‘Contact info’ contains all your info like email address personal information and password. Change and press ‘Update’ when you are done.
Adding a Forum Signature: (an image, link or ticker you want to display at the end of every post you make) Select ‘My Profile’, ‘Edit’, ‘Update your profile’ go to the third tab ‘Forum’ Here you can change your forum viewing preferences and add your forum signature. If you are pasting a link to your ticker use the PseudoHTML or BB code. Press ‘Update’ when you are done.
To view another members details: Click on the username of another member of the forum, their details will show including whether they are currently online, the last time they were online etc. From here you can send the user a private message, or view their personal gallery. You can also click the ‘PM’ or ‘Profile’ option under the image of their posts on the forum.
Q & A
Q: What is the Connection tab in my profile?
A: Connections are a quick and easy way to keep tabs on your friends who are also part of this forum. You can add connections by clicking on the profile of a friend. Under ‘Connections’ (at the top) you can request a connection from this particular friend. When your friend has accepted the connection you can go to your own profile and under the third tab ‘Connections’ you will find all your friends. From here you can view whether they are online, view their profile, send them a private message or an email.
Q: How do I know that I have a Connection request from a friend?
A: At the top of the page when you log in, next to the ‘Logout’ option a notification will appear when you have a connection request. To accept this request you can go to your profile and the ‘Connections’ tab.
Q: How do I know if I have a private message?
A: Private messages between friends, connections or any other member of moomie appear on your profile under the ‘Messages’ tab. At this time the moomie site doesn’t inform you of a new message waiting to be read, so you have to check your messages yourself on a regular basis.
Q: How do I unsubscribe/subscribe from the emails received when there’s a new post on a thread I’m following?
A: Under ‘My Profile’, third tab at the bottom ‘Forum’, at the bottom of this page is an ‘Unsubscribe All’ button, click this to stop notifications. To follow only a particular thread, (like one you created and would like to receive notification when replied upon) there is a red ‘Subscribe’/’Unsubscribe’ button at the top or bottom of the thread, next to the ‘Reply Topic’ button.
Q: How can I change my username?
A: Please contact an Administrator.
Q: I forgot my password and or username?
A: Please contact an Administrator to reset your password or check your username.
Q: I didn’t receive a confirmation email upon registration and can’t log in or re-register?
