Hi there,
I had to start going to Boarding school when I started grade 10 due to various reasons ( so I was 15 at the time ) I loved every second of boarding school. I was also in a all girls school which I also really loved ( before that in primary school and grade 8 and 9 I was in a co-ed school ). I truly flourished in boarding school as I am such a social person I just loved having all my friends down the hall from me. Ofcourse I felt homesick from time to time and I remember once after I had just started going crying to mom that I want to come home. She stood firm and said I need to give it another few months and once I settled in every thing changed

I am very happy that my mom did not take my out when I asked and new that it was just that I have missing home a bit
My younger sister that is more an introvert did not cope well in boarding school and was very unhappy and homesick. My parents later then decided to take her out. I was given the option to do so but dint even consider it for a moment.
I really think it depends on your child. I do not think there is a right or wrong choice here I think it is what is best for you and your child. There where many girls in boarding school with me that did not like it and there where loads that like me loved it. It really depends on your child.
Also please do keep in mind I went to boarding school as a teenager and I am sure the experience for both parent and child is very different if they are younger.
I hope that this helps
Yolanda I am very happy every thing turned out so great for you!!!
